[none] - Mike L: Motion to approve the minutes. - Michael M: Second. - Arpad: Anyone opposed? [none] ------------- New Discussion: Ground topic: - Arpad: Walter, do we have more to discuss on the Ground topic? - Walter: I have nothing to discuss. - I move that we table this until 6.1 is complete, at which point we can pull together an editorial committee to work on the issue. - Radek: Second. I agree, but there are details we need to discuss later. - Walter: Yes, we didn't literally approve the material in my presentation. - Arpad: Anyone opposed to tabling this topic for now? [none] - I will add this to the tabled list. Directionality BIRD 178.2: - Mike L: [reading from the last Open Forum minutes] - Bob Ross noted changes to the 178.2 version including adding the eight new PAM4 BIRD parameters to the directionality table. - Bob suggested that we might review BIRD 178.2 here in the ATM and then vote on a recommendation to the Open Forum. - Bob: My only question was to review the proposed directions specified for the eight new PAM4 parameters. - They may all be fine. I just wanted to raise the question. - Discussion: There was general agreement that seven of the eight PAM4 parameters were properly categorized. The threshold and offset parameters (6 parameters) are Rx-only. The Modulation parameter supports any direction. Only PAM4_Mapping was debated. It is listed as "Any" in BIRD 178.2. Walter thought that it should be Tx-only. Walter suggested that the EDA tool would use it to generate the waveform passed to Tx GetWave(), and the EDA tool would use it to interpret the waveform that came back from Rx GetWave(). He felt the Rx would not need this parameter. Bob, Mike L., and Michael M. were not sure and felt it might be it might be used in both directions ("Any"). - Walter: I think it makes sense for PAM4_Mapping to be Tx-only. - But, the BIRD is not really explicit about this. - I would like to take this offline to discuss it with Fangyi. - Michael M: We can wait until that discussion takes place. - If there are changes necessary, I can create BIRD 178.3. - We can then consider a recommendation to the Open Forum. - Arpad: I will put this on the agenda for next week. Cleanup of topics: - Arpad: I move that we table the LTI analog models for AMI simulations topic. - We can untable it when Scott is ready to talk about it. - Bob: Second. - Arpad: Anyone opposed? [none] - Arpad: I contacted Romi Mayder regarding BIRD 157. - It is no longer viewed as important, and he thought it could be rejected. - [Driver Schedule] can be used to provide a 2 tap pre-emphasis, de-emphasis. - The goal of BIRD 157 was to parameterize [Driver Schedule] so it could more easily be used with multiple frequencies. - David: Do you know what caused Romi to lose interest? - Arpad: I didn't ask that, but I suspect the AMI improvements in the last few years have caused this BIRD to be less important. - Arpad: I move that we recommend to the Open Forum that BIRD 157 be rejected. - Mike L: Second. - Arpad: Anyone opposed? [none] - Any other topics? [none] - Let us close today's meeting. - Thank you all for joining. AR: Walter to discuss PAM4_Mapping directionality with Fangyi, et. al. AR: Arpad to report to the Open Forum that ATM recommends BIRD 157 be rejected. ------------- Next meeting: 21 July 2015 12:00pm PT ------------- IBIS Interconnect SPICE Wish List: 1) Simulator directives
